It’s been a while since I’ve shared an update, so I wanted to catch you up on what I’ve been up to.
Terminal Tower
Spent a few days in LA… inside a water tower. (Yes, really.) I was there with the Terminal crew for Terminal Tower. I couldn’t stay the whole 7 days as I’d already taken off work for other events— but it was such a fun experience. Here’s my dev diary if you want the quick version of my experience:
Dev diary
Jokes aside, I had a blast hanging out with everyone. I always leave Terminal events feeling super inspired to build (and laugh a lot while doing it). Also, while we were there, Prime’s Lex Fridman interview dropped — highly recommend checking it out if you haven’t yet.
🎤 EpicWebConf
Right after that, I flew to Utah to speak at EpicWebConf. This one meant a lot — Kent invited me to speak, and it ended up being one of my favorite moments of the year so far. I’ve been to this conference before and always loved it, but speaking there made it extra special.
You can catch my talk around the 2:36:00 mark here. My slides decided to stop working right before I went on, so I had to wing it — but honestly, it made the experience even more memorable.
I talked about learning out loud, the concept and the new community I’ve been working on (more on that below!).
🌴 React Miami
After a quick stop to see family, I flew to Miami for React Miami.
I made my first-ever vlog about the conference (!!): Watch it here.
I also got to MC alongside Ken Wheeler — something I’ve been looking forward to all year. Now that it’s over, I’m definitely feeling those post-conference blues. It was such a good time: learning so much, reconnecting with old friends, making new ones, and getting to host with Ken was a total highlight. Huge thanks to Michelle and Gabe for making it all happen, as well as all the volunteers and sponsors of the event.
I was also on Terminal Feud again (first time was in NY, second round in Miami). All I’ll say is… my team was robbed. You can watch the replay.
Back in SF
Finally settling back into San Francisco. I just moved here but have barely been home. If you live in SF and want to grab coffee, feel free to email me.
